About Mahama Wss
The Mahama Water Supply System (WSS), operated by Ayateke Star Company Ltd, provides reliable and high-quality water and sanitation services to Mahama Refugee Camp and the surrounding local population. Since 2019, Ayateke Star has been responsible for the operation and maintenance of the Mahama Water Treatment Plant under a contract agreement with UNHCR. This partnership ensures safe and consistent water distribution to both refugees and host communities.
Currently, Mahama WSS serves approximately 70,000 people. The system oversees daily management of water distribution networks, ensuring uninterrupted service across the camp and nearby areas. Supported by modern infrastructure, it is designed for efficient delivery and long-term sustainability. Regular maintenance of pipelines, reservoirs, and treatment facilities helps prevent disruptions and ensures reliable access to clean water. Water quality monitoring is a core function of Mahama WSS. Routine testing is conducted to ensure that all distributed water meets national and international health standards, protecting the health of both refugee and local populations. Mahama WSS also provides responsive customer support, addressing billing inquiries, service concerns, and community engagement needs.
